Finally, News About MV Sun Sea

Just scanning head lines this morning and ran across this news item:

Feds link Tamil boat passengers to terrorism

OTTAWA - The Canada Border Services Agency says 15 people who arrived off Canada's west coast last summer should be booted from the country over terrorist or criminal ties.

The news comes as officials in Thailand announced they laid charges against a man they claim helped organize the ship that brought the men and nearly 500 other Sri Lankan nationals to Canada.

Thai police arrested Nadesan Jeeyananthan, a 48 year-old Sri Lankan they claim is involved in a human smuggling ring.

So far, Jeeyananthan and seven others have been charged with illegally entering Thailand, but officials

in Canada and Thailand suspect him of being the ring leader behind the MV Sun Sea that arrived off the coast of British Columbia last August.

There is also suspicion that Jeeyananthan was behind plans to organize another ship that would have attempted to bring 200 more people to Canada.

“We commend the Thai police for arresting an alleged leader within a criminal network suspected of illegally smuggling individuals to Canada,” said Chris McCluskey a spokesman for Public Safety Minister Vic Toews.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Border Services Agency has referred 15 files to the immigration and refugee board with a recommendation that their refugee claims be denied.

Government officials say that 14 of the 15 men have ties to the Tamil Tiger terrorist group, while the other has a criminal past. The Tigers are an outlawed group in Canada. [snip]

So much for all the hand wringing over these poor "refugees". I suggest reading the whole article. Things are improving in Sri Lanka, Tamil refugee claims are dropping, and things are looking up over there. The only reason we will be getting so called refugees now is as a smoke screen. Load up a lot of them and try to sneak in a few terrorists to plot and plan from a safe haven in Canada.

After all, they are looking to set up a "government in exile" somewhere. Probably here in Canada. We don't need that can of worms here, that's for sure.

More Good News From The Tamil Tigers...

Well, scanning the news articles this morning I came across a piece that made my blood run cold, then raised my temperature. Who didn't see this development coming?

From the National Post

Tamil Tigers may be using Canada as base: official

Ian MacLeod, Postmedia News · Monday, Jan. 17, 2011

Security intelligence authorities are warning that exiled Tamil rebel leaders are re-establishing their violent Sri Lankan separatist movement in Canada.

“We don’t know how far advanced it is, but their intent is pretty clear — to set up a base-in-exile here for the leadership. Some leadership is already here,” a well-placed federal government official told the Ottawa Citizen.

The warning accompanied a report late last week to senior government officials revealing that two southeast Asian smuggling syndicates are arranging the launch of two more shiploads of Tamil migrants to British Columbia in the coming weeks. The boats are expected to carry as many as 50 former Tamil Tiger rebel leaders and fighters, according to intelligence estimates.

“Why here? It doesn’t make any sense because it is much easier to go to Australia,” said the official. “This is the reason.”

Two previous cargo ships, Sun Sea and Ocean Lady, arrived off the west coast last year and in 2009 carrying a total of 568 migrants, including several men the government suspects are former rebels.

“How many have made it through, how advanced they are is not clear, (but) we’re concerned,” said the official. “Canadians expect us to avoid becoming a haven for terrorists.” [SNIP]

Decades of "liberal" immigration laws, refugee hearings, and Federal Liberal policies is why most of these people are coming here. It took the Harper Conservatives in 2006 to actually declare the LTTE(Tamil Tigers) a terrorist organization.

Another reason of why they would do that here in Canada?
Soon after the war ended, the pro-rebel Tamilnet website published an LTTE statement that it was establishing a “transnational” government among the group’s overseas diaspora to carry on their political struggle.

No countries were named, but Canada is home to the largest Tamil diaspora, estimated to number 300,000. The vast majority live peacefully, mostly around Toronto.

Still, that makes Canada one of the few places in the world where “LTTE terrorists and supporters might seek to hide in plain sight, and potentially launch terrorist activities,” RCMP Commissioner William Elliott noted in a 2009 speech.[SNIP]

Yes we know all about the Tamils here in Toronto, after all they shut down a major expressway in a protest, and then shut down a major road in the downtown core in a "spontaneous" protest of the Sri Lankan governments win over the terrorists and rebels.

The Conservative government is trying to do something. Most of the "refugee" seekers from the M.V. Sun Sea are still being held. Even though the Immigration and Refugee board said that it was okay to release them. It's a good thing that the government appealed the decision and is still holding them in detention.

As to the leftist parties of our nation? Well when the upcoming illegal immigrant and human smuggling bill comes up in parliament...

The Harper government is expected to push its proposed anti-smuggling legislation when the House of Commons resumes sitting Jan. 31.

The new law, which the opposition has vowed to vote down, would toughen jail terms and fines for those found guilty of human smuggling and penalize asylum seekers who are deemed to have paid human smugglers to get them to Canada. Previous migrants have paid $40,000 to $50,00

Yep, we may have rough times ahead. I would strongly suggest reading the whole article. There's many more tidbits in there to support the conclusions of the unnamed offical, and reasons for us to worry. After all, the LTTE gave us suicide bombers and bomb belts. Which all terrorist organizations have taken to with great gusto. We don't need more security issues here in Canada. We have too many as it is.

Canadian Human Rights Tribunal: Touched in the Head

I know it's been awhile, lots of stuff going on and other people are doing better at this whole political thing then I am. Anyway, I open my news at the Toronto Sun and I get this nugget from our Canadian Human Rights morons.

Cop-killer's bad back gets him $9,500:

OTTAWA - The man who shot and killed Ottawa police officer David Utman in 1983 has been awarded $9,500 in compensation by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

The tribunal's website says Peter Michael Collins, 48, is due the cash from the Correctional Service of Canada because of a policy that required him to stand up and be counted by correctional officers at least once a day, known as the stand-to count procedure, even though he suffers from extreme back pain.

Collins, who represented himself, filed the complaint saying that guards at Bath Institution near Kingston, Ont., in eastern Ontario, knew of his chronic pain and waived the regulation until November 2005 "when one of the CSC's correctional officers ordered him for the first time to stand and be counted in an unsupported manner." [SNIP]

Nine thousand and five hundred dollars paid to a murderer, a cop killer, a criminal. Maybe the prison guards were a little too strict with following their rules. Maybe they could have shown a little compassion. Then again, he is a convicted cop killer.

Now what's he going to do with all that money? Personally I think it should be confiscated and paid as restitution to Constable Utmans surviving children. That would be proper justice I think.

This is what I would call "Reason # 9,500" why the CHRT's should be scrapped.
